ZOE JACKSON

Zoe Jackson has been a professional singer for 23 years.  Her career started in the U.K. playing in function bands at the age of 14. During this time Zoe also worked as an In-house vocalist for a Recording Studio.  An offer came in to play as a resident solo Piano/Vocalist in a 5 star hotel. At that point she taught herself piano, her career took a turn and she left the U.K. and travelled the world on cruise ships, and 5 star hotels in Sweden.

After this, Zoe moved to France, and between cruise ship contracts she joined a touring band called Abyss, which took her around France.

Now a resident of New Zealand, Zoe  is a Vocal Trainer at Nayland College, Garin College, and Marlborough Girls College. Zoe also worked the last four years with local band, The Classic Hits Band, with Gabor Tolnay, Neville Claughton, and is proud to be invited to join Gecko.

Zoe's vocal style is a rich blend of soul, rock, jazz, and promises many surprises with her ability to put her own stamp on every song.

FRASER CAMPBELL

Fraser has been working as a part-time performing and studio bassist for 18 years. His career started during his last year at High School when he was asked to join a busy R+B band. He honed his solid rhythmic style playing pubs and festivals in the South Canterbury area.

After moving to Dunedin, Fraser continued his musical journey where he joined the Maud Gonne Band who later became Whole Peeled. This led to two national tours and headlining spots at the Hokitika Wild Food Festival. He also worked in a duo setting with Sam Auger (The International Wellington Ukelele Orchestra).

In 1996, Fraser added his bass feel to Paul McLaney (Fly My Pretties, Gramsci) and the Avalanche Trios’ debut recording The Prayer Engine. A spot at the Wellington Fringe festival then back to Dunedin to continue work with The Good C Quartet, a jazz outfit known for performances involving whipped cream, chainsaws and other artistic forays. They also performed regularly at Abalone Bar with a more family friendly show.

Fraser uses Warwick Profet 3.3 head and Warwick 4x10. Fraser plays Fender Zone Deluxe basses with D’Addario strings.

STEPHAN GILBERG

Stephan, originally from Germany, started playing guitar just in time to join some High School bands in their quest to fame and before getting together with afro-american Singer/Songwriter Wilson Blount to form “The Carolina Blues Connection”, a five piece band mainly focussing on modern Blues, R&B and Soul that left its mark on many Blues and Jazz clubs and festivals in North Germany during the early nineties.

After immigrating to New Zealand Stephan was the founding member of Gecko in 1998 and he’s proud and amazed to see Gecko going from strength to strength with every incarnation after all those years.

Quite likely Nelson’s longest and strongest going band in its 11 years so far Stephan really is proud and honoured to be there with the current line up of fantastic musicians that make Gecko so unique and special.

Regular performing at functions, weddings, parties and public venues highlights have been playing two consecutive nights at the Wildfoods Festival in Hokitika, frenetic party gigs at the Mussel Inn at New Years Eve and the breathtaking “8 gigs in 7 days tour” of the Top of the South over Christmas and New Year 2007.
